Sneaky Snakes

This Total Gospel tract was first written  by Samuel M. Smith  in 1982 in Pensacola, FL ~ First published under the Bible Apostolic Study name.

 Sneaky Snakes

Snakes are often thought of as 'sneaky," because of their stealthiness in stalking their prey – of seeming to suddenly appear from nowhere. They flash out and strike or-grab their prey quicker than the eye can see. Rarely does a victim escape without the help of another animal or man.

We also think of how Satan appeared to Eve in the Garden of Eden in the form of a serpent to tempt her to disobey God. Satan is often thought of as a snake and in Revelation 12:19 and 20:2 is called "that old serpent."
We think of Satan, then, as a "sneaky snake," a deceiver. 2 Corinthians 11:14 and 15 declares,  ". . . for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."
Many preachers are travelling around the world today, preaching great oratorical masterpieces which move the hearts of those who hear them to believe that they are lost sinners, headed for an eternal punishment apart from God and that Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God also became the sacrificial Lamb of God to take away their sins. As they believe they want to "get right with God." Hungry souls who have already believed the gospel message before they ever felt the conviction of the Holy Spirit, come pouring down to the altar or prayer room by the hundreds, or even thousands. They are sincerely repentant and eager to do anything they are told to do in order to have salvation and the inner peace and joy that goes with it. They are hungering and thirsting after righteousness, anxious to be at peace with God.They want to hear the Bible "Plan of Salvation" that will make them New Creatures in Christ Jesus.
This is when the "Sneaky Snake" appears and shows his true loyalty. If the minister then tells the new believer that it they will just "...believe on the Lord Jesus Christ thou shalt be saved," partially quoting Acts 16:31 or quote that beautiful scripture, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life," (John 3:16). out of its full context and meaning, he is causing them to think they are saved before they are according to what the Bible does clearly teach.

Some ministers say to shake their hand or join their church or help support their ministry financially, implying that if you heard their message and were touched, you believed and were immediately “Saved.” These are the “sneaky snakes” spoken of in 2 Corinthians 11:15. They staunchly refuse to tell their hungry hearers the REAL Bible Plan of salvation!

The true minister of God, after his hearers have already believed the Gospel message and come forward asking, as did the three thousand on the day of Pentecost, "What must we do," tells them exactly what the Apostle Peter, with the full agreement of the other Apostles, told his hearers, “Repent and be baptized every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38).
The true minister knows that it is the Grace, the undeserved, unmerited favor of God, that has given us the Gospel Plan of Salvation, that brought Jesus  down from His Glory to become the sacrificial Lamb of God. And it is also God's Grace that allowed his hearers to hear and have the faith to believe so that the Holy Spirit can bring conviction in their hearts. He does not rely on repentance or baptism in Jesus' name as works of righteousness to bring salvation apart from the shed blood of Jesus Christ through the Grace of God, but he knows that we can ONLY receive salvation in the way GOD has told us through His Apostles. It is the Grace of God that allows us to come to the foot of Jesus' cross, to repent of our sins, to be buried with Him in the watery grave as a certificate of the death of our old natures, and to rise with HIM to walk in newness of life as we are certified alive in Him by the baptism of the Holy Spirit. (See Romans 6:3, 4; Galatians 3:27 and Colossians 2:12.)
The Sneaky Snake minister cannot, within himself help what he is. He was born that way of the seed of his father, Satan, the original Sneaky Snake. So please don't try to kill him in the natural, or eternally condemn him, because there is already a danger to this reptile's continued existence. He is continually working with the Truth, God's Word. And while the Sneaky Snake uses half-truths to hide God’s full Word, through your prayers, he may be brought to see the full truth, die to his old way and become a new and truthful creature in Christ Jesus. Please pray for all these ministers that the judgments of Jeremiah 23 not come upon them.
